Labdanum is a dense, resinous material used to build warmth and depth in perfume. Its profile combines ambery sweetness with leathery, balsamic and gently smoky facets, giving a composition a rounded, textured finish rather than simple sugar-like sweetness. In most fragrances, it sits in the base and supports the dry-down, where its richness becomes more pronounced as brighter opening notes fade.

In women's fragrances, labdanum is often paired with vanilla, amber, woods, incense, spices or rich florals. The surrounding notes determine whether it reads as creamy and plush, dry and leathery, or darker and more balsamic.
