Cedar is a dry, structured woody note with a clean pencil-shaving character, subtle resinous warmth and, in some compositions, a gently smoky edge. It is commonly used in the base or heart to give a fragrance definition, lift and lasting woody depth without the sweetness of amber or the creaminess of sandalwood.

In men’s fragrances, cedar often appears alongside citrus, aromatic herbs, vetiver, leather, patchouli, amber or other woods. Those pairings can make it feel crisp and outdoorsy, earthy and green, or darker and more polished.
