Men's Benzoin Fragrances

Benzoin is a fragrant resin with a warm, balsamic sweetness that often recalls vanilla, amber and soft spices. In men’s fragrances, it gives the composition a rounded, comforting base without making it overtly sugary, making it useful in polished amber, woody, oriental and gourmand styles.

Usually used as a base note, benzoin helps extend the character of a fragrance and smooth the transition between richer materials. It pairs naturally with vanilla, tonka, incense, sandalwood, patchouli and leather, while citrus or aromatic notes can give its sweetness more lift. Depending on the surrounding notes, benzoin may read as creamy and powdery, resinous and smoky, or dark and ambery.
